Warm up spring with a hot night of jazz at the Big Band Benefit Concert tonight at 8 p.m. in the University Centre Farquhar Auditorium. UVicÕs Big Band joins talented young jazz musicians from Belmont, Esquimalt, and Oak Bay high schools in the grand finale to UVicÕs Community Festival, a week-long celebration of music, words and ideas. The Big Band will play classic jazz selections from the swing era while the younger musiciansÕ selections will cover modern and contemporary jazz classics. Tickets are $20 and include a champagne reception at intermission. Proceeds from the concert will support music in Victoria schools.
