Panel explores climate change issues
Members of the public are invited to join a panel discussion
on climate change with federal Environment Minister David Anderson
and several UVic scientists and researchers chaired by Dr. Tom Pedersen,
the director of UVic’s school of earth and ocean sciences
(SEOS).
“A Discussion on Canada and Climate Change”
will be held tonight (Jan. 9) at 6:30 p.m. in the Lam Auditorum
(MacLaurin A144).
Panelists include Dr. Ned Djilali (engineering),
fuel cell researcher and the executive director of UVic’s
Institute for Integrated Energy Systems; Dr. Peter Kennedy (economics)
whose research includes examining the federal government’s
emission reduction trading program; Dr. Steve Lonergan (geography)
who examines the impact population migration due to climate change
has on global security; and Dr. Andrew Weaver (earth & ocean
sciences), an internationally known climatologist.
