Rammed earth wall

FIRST PEOPLES HOUSE RISING FROM THE EARTH
The first of two rammed earth walls rises from the site of the First Peoples House—a welcoming and supportive space on campus for Indigenous students and the broader community. The walls were built by tamping damp earth into forms. Architect Alfred Waugh says the framed earth walls make reference to the Interior Salish people who used pit houses for their winter homes.
