| UVic has been named a Research University of the Year in the annual survey of Canadian research universities by Re$earch Infosource. UVic placed third in the comprehensive category—
a position it has held for the last seven years. On the blended list of Canada’s research universities, UVic maintained 17th place, showing a sponsored research income total of just over $112.4 million for fiscal 2008. This is a 25.9-per-cent increase over the previous year—the second-highest growth rate among the top 20 universities.
