Nominations are now being sought for the UVic Women's Conference Recognition Awards. Members of the campus community are asked to submit names by 4:30 p.m., Oct. 11. Nominees should be women who have provided some sort of leadership within their work, made a contribution or an impact on UVic and its communities or have performed outstandingly in their role as student, staff, or faculty member.
The conference will be held Nov. 13. This year's theme, "Common Ground-Uncommon People," reflects the diversity of women working together in the UVic community. Provincial Ombudsman Dulcie McCallum will deliver the keynote address. Conference programs will be available in early October in all departments.
Registration for the conference opens Oct. 7. For $10 ($5 for students) ticket holders gain admission to the morning keynote address, a choice of two 90-minute sessions, the afternoon closing session and lunch. Registration ends Nov. 6 and will be on a first come, first served basis. Past conferences have been sell-outs. All members of the University community, both male and female, are welcome to attend. For more information on the awards contact Susan Corner at 6243, for general conference information contact Pam Ponic at 8816.
