At its meeting in October, Senate passed the following motion:
That the Senate committee on Honorary Degrees undertake a comprehensive review of the procedures and criteria for determining who shall be offered an honorary degree, including appropriate consultation with the University community, and that a report on the review be made to Senate by October 1998.
As a first step in dealing with the referral from Senate, the committee is asking for your views sent to the Office of the University Secretary, marked for the attention of Dr. Norma Mickelson, Chancellor and Chair, Senate Committee on Honorary Degrees,; or they can be relayed by phone, fax, or e-mail to the Secretary of the Committee, Cecilia Freeman-Ward (ph. 721-8104, fax 721-6223 or e-mail cecilia@uvvm.uvic.ca).
