UVic President Dr. David Strong
congratulates Sira Wissawapaisal on being named the third
recipient of UVic's $10,000 Anand scholarship. She's in her
second year of a PhD program, studying the use of
educational technology in second-language teaching with Dr.
Robert Anthony in the department of communications and
social foundations in education. She earned her BA in
English and Spanish from Chulalongkorn University in
Thailand and her MA in organizational communications from
the University of Akron in Ohio. The Anand scholarship was
established jointly by the former Prime Minister of Thailand
and former Thai Ambassador to Canada, Khun Anand
Panyarachun, who is UVic's Honorary Patron in Thailand, and
Strong to enable Thai students to study at UVic and to
support faculty exchanges and student study and work
exchanges between Thai partner institutions and UVic.
