THE UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA |
University House 1 is becoming a
show home, at least for one day. On Dec. 14, thanks to the division
of external relations, House 1 will be one of seven stops on
the second annual 'Artful Season' tour of festive homes
sponsored by the Needs of Victorians Society and the
Victoria College of Art (VCA). The event raised $6,900 for
charitable causes last year from 300 participants. Funds
this year will go toward supporting the Open Door, Nine-Ten
Club and Upper Room, and student bursaries for the VCA.
The main floor of House 1 will be
decked out in a Santa Claus theme, with a special guest
appearance by items from the soon-to-be-famous, 180-piece
Jim Griffith Santa Claus collection.
Griffith, the executive director of
external relations, has been collecting Santa figures for
more than 10 years. His Clausian armada now includes
multi-cultural Santas from around the globe, made of
everything from driftwood to peanut shells, and depicting
the world famous elf in a variety of shapes, costumes and
sizes. The tour runs from 5&endash;9 p.m.
Some tickets are still available through the division of
external relations at University House 1. They are $20 each,
with a map included.
