Interlock committee seeks volunteers

Are you interested in volunteering your time to promote the health and well-being of the University of Victoria workplace?

The UVic & Interlock Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) Joint Committee is looking for volunteers. The committee meets four times a year for two to three hours to review the quarterly reports from Interlock and ensure that the EFAP program is meeting the needs of UVic employees. The committee also plans orientation sessions and other information events.

Interlock was chosen as the service provider in November, 1997. It provides all eligible UVic employees with short-term, no-cost professional counselling in the areas of: marriage, relationship and family concerns; personal problems; alcohol and drug dependencies; career and work-related concerns; life transitions; stress-related problems; trauma response; and resource information and referral for financial and legal concerns.

The UVic joint committee is composed of university employees and Interlock representatives, including the regional director. Current committee members are: Jill Tate (chair), physical education; Mary-Lynne Britt, development office; Bill Collins, facilities management; Lois Jones, human resources; Martin Segger, Maltwood Museum; and Barbara Whittington, social work.

If you're interested in volunteering for the committee, contact Jill Tate by Oct. 15 at 721-8374 or by e-mail at jmtate@uvic.ca.
