
University of Victoria President Dr. David Strong is the newest member of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).
The NRC is a federal agency governed by a 22-member council appointed from its client community, which includes industry, universities, and other research institutions across the country. The council's mission is to support national science and engineering activities.
An earth scientist by profession, Strong is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Geological Society of America. He received an NRC scholarship in 1968 and the E.W.R. Steacie Memorial fellowship in 1975. His NRC appointment is for a three-year term.
