Computer science administrative officer Helen Graham is surrounded by nearly 50 items donated to the department’s 1999 End of Year Charity Auction, including a huge gingerbread house and a hand-carved African tribal mask. Eighty faculty, staff and students helped raise $2,750 at the Dec. 2 auction and raffle to benefit a Victoria single mother of three young children, two of whom are autistic. Arranged through the Victoria Christmas Bureau, the auction proceeds will be put toward a double stroller, grocery certificate and other gifts for the family. The remaining funds will be given to the UVic United Way campaign and the Times Colonist 1000 Fund.
