In its wisdom, the senate has decided that a special Convocation will be held in the spring of 2000 to mark the commencement of the 21st century and the new millennium. In this regard, the senate has asked for nominations for candidates for honorary degrees.
I suggest that the university award an honorary doctorate to someone (anyone) who can count from one to 100. Your average six-year-old will then be able to explain to the assembled savants that after you've finished counting from one to 100, the next 100 begins with a number ending with the digit "1".
