| UVic community members are invited to acknowledge the achievements and contributions of the women among them by submitting nominations for recognition awards to be presented at this year’s UVic Women’s Conference on Nov. 10.
Nominees should be: displaying leadership, either through nurturing special projects or creating a supportive environment; making a contribution or impact on UVic and its communities; and be an outstanding performer in her role as a student, faculty or staff member, alumna or member of the UVic community. The awards will be presented at the day-long conference. This year, participants will celebrate “living creatively” by choosing from a series of morning and afternoon workshops, listening to keynote speaker Gwen McKay, general manager of Albion Fisheries and a director of the B.C. Salmon Marketing Council, and watching a performance of the Linda Raino Dance Company. The deadline for submitting nominations for the UVic Women’s Conference recognition awards is 4:30 p.m. Oct. 15. Nomin-ation forms are also available from departmental offices, the SUB Info booth, the graduate students society general office and the University Centre info booth. The conference registration fee is $5 for students and $10 for faculty, staff and alumni. Completed registration forms must be sent to the office of the director, co-op education by Oct. 23.
