UVic 2010 United Way blasts past goals

UVic campus community members—staff, students, faculty and retirees—have more than 300,000 reasons to be very proud of the UVic 2010 United Way campaign.

The final tally for the annual campaign was declared on Jan. 25, 2011 and in total we raised $302,328 and welcomed 81 new donors! (The 2010 campaign goals were to raise $280,000 and increase donor participation by 62 new donors.)

Together we are helping to change the future for those whose challenges are too great to face alone. Since 2005, the UVic campus community has raised over $1.5 million (and counting!) for the United Way of Greater Victoria (UWGV). On Jan. 28, 2011, the UWGV announced it had reached its goal of $6.2 million, raising a total of $6.21 million. A large and dedicated team of volunteers from UVic’s community—and generous sponsors both on and off campus—helped contribute to the smooth coordination provided by the UVic 2010 campaign committee, which received the 2010 Outstanding Campaign Committee Spirit Award from the UWGV at its annual Spirit Awards on Jan. 27, 2011.
